Trial began Tuesday for a Michigan state Police Trooper facing multiple charges in connection with an incident in Bad Axe February 10th at the Bad Axe State Police Post involving his female partner. A 13 member jury was empaneled Tuesday morning in Huron County Circuit Court, which includes one alternate that will be dismissed when the case goes to the jury. Starting in the afternoon, Huron County Circuit Judge Gerald Prill went over jury instructions, prior to the State Attorney General's prosecutor and the Defense attorney for Mullin presenting their opening statements. The prosecutor told the panel about what she called a pattern of abuse and controlling behavior by the defendant. She went through a number of incidents prior to the events on February 10th. She talked about audio recordings that will be presented to the jury. The Defense Attorney told jurors that they will find Mullin guilty of aggravated domestic violence, but the other charges he described as "garbage". By 2pm the prosector called their first witness in the case that is scheduled for 3 days in court.   Mullin is charged with assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, obstruction of justice, misconduct while in office, assaulting a police officer causing injury and aggravated domestic assault in connection with the incident involving his partner on the force with whom he was having an affair.
