Johns Hopkins estimates about 49 percent of U.S. population is vaccinated

Over the last 24 hours, the number of new COVID cases increased globally by 369,329 to 190,653,845, according to today's report from the Johns Hopkins University of Medicine.
And, deaths from the virus increased by 6,472 to 4,092,732.
Also, cases of the COVID virus increased by 8,720 to 34,087,552, and fatal cases increased by 35 to 609,053.
Cases and deaths from the virus continue to increase especially ares where there are high numbers of people who have not be vaccinated.
However, the university also announced some good news. In the United States, it is estimated about 49 percent of the population have received at least one dose of the COVID vaccine, which is about 161,200,000 people.
