Michigan gas prices increase 7 cents in the past week

Gas prices in Michigan are down after jumping 13 cents to $2.71 per gallon on October 4. Michigan drivers are now paying an average price of $2.69 per gallon for regular unleaded, 7 cents more than a week ago and 1 cent more than this time last month. Despite the increase, drivers are still paying about 31 cents less than this same time last year. In its latest weekly report, the Energy Information Administration's data revealed that gas demand is starting to decline - as is typically the case during the fall. The highest average price for regular unleaded fuel was in Ann Arbor at $2.74 cents a gallon, whle the least expensive was in Traverse City at $2.53. Compared to last week, Metro Detroit's average daily gas price decreased. Metro Detroit's current average is $2.69 per gallon, about 1 cent less than last week and 29 cents less than this time last year.
