Although the COVID-19 pandemic has cancelled nearly all of the regular summer events throughout the state, there is one that is still on.
The Kiwanis Club of Lapeer will host its annual Rubber Duck Dash 2 p.m., Saturday at Cramton Park. Tickets are $5 each and offers a chance to win up to $2,500 in cash prizes.
Normally, the duck dash event includes a variety of games and activities, but not this year because of the pandemic.
Besides the Duck Dash, the duck decorating contest is still on with a few changes. That contest will be done online this year.
A photograph of the decorated ducks will be posted on the Kiwanis Club of Lapeer's website. The decorated duck that receives the most votes wins the title and bragging rights as the "Most Wanted Duck", and there is the contest of the "Best Decorated Duck," which is voted on by the Kiwanis judges. Voting is underway now.
Both of the winners will receive awards and a prize package.
Tickets can be bought from Kiwanis members, online at http://www.kiwanislapeer.org/ , the day of the event, and from several downtown businesses.
