Alan Bean from Spicer Group discussed solar for the Master Plan with the Huron County Planning Commission at Wednesday's Planning Commission meeting. Much of the discussion was about if there would be possible special uses in agricultural land in an ordinance to make solar feasible in more than commercial or industrial zoned areas. There was also discussion about having a buffer around the lakeshore similar to the wind ordinances and for the possible limitation in a heavy residential area. 911 Director Randy Miller said that for the grants that were applied for regarding flooding or a tornado, they may get an answer in January.

In other action, Terry Heck asked Corporate Council Steve Allen if he reviewed the questions he proposed to ask Vestas for certain information from their manual regarding turbines. Allen stated that at this time, the Planning Commission has no authority to ask the questions because they aren't tied into anything currently going through the commission. Corporate Council also stated that the Planning Commission spends too much time on issues that they don't have any jurisdiction over. Apple Blossom sent in a letter stating that as of November 21st, they are commercially operating. Deerfield Wind Energy will present their post-construction compliance report at the January meeting.
