The Unionville-Sebewaing School Board addressed several different items at their regular meeting on Monday. The first issue was student chromebooks. The first chromebooks that were purchased are no longer supported by the manufacturer and can no longer be updated. A new version would need to be bought for all 180 devices at $176.64 each. The total cost of this replacement will total $36,061.20. In other action, the board discussed hiring Laura Polega as their Career and College Advisor on a part-time basis. Polega has developed training and knowledge of the college enrollment process through the Michigan College Access Network and she is currently serving as the Coordinator for the Huron County College and Career Access Network. The board also approved the hiring of Kim Hedley as a bus driver for the district. Hedley worked for the Michigan Educational Transportation Services (METS) last year, and was hired after a successful year behind the wheel. Hedley will continue to drive the same route for the district as he did for METS.
