A state prosecutor has resigned after authorities learned that he had a relationship with a woman while handling her allegations of sexual misconduct in Ccentral Michigan. Attorney General Dana Nessel calls it "incredibly disturbing." She says Brian Kolodziej, an assistant Attorney General, resigned last week. Kolodziej was the prosecutor in a case involving students at Central Michigan University. Ian Elliott, a former student government leader, pleaded no contest to third-degree criminal sexual conduct in Isabella County and is serving a year in prison. Nessel didn't say whether the conviction should be thrown out. She says she plans to talk to defense attorney Joe Barberi. Barberi called the news a "bombshell." Kolodziej couldn't immediately be reached for comment Tuesday. Nessel says State Police are investigating. His resignation also was the reason for the delay in the trial of Adam Mullin the Michigan State Trooper alleged to have assaulted his female parter in Huron County. He was lead attorney in that case.
