Today's detection of 1994 COVID-19 cases is lowest since September

According to today's data report from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS), there have been 13,401 fatal COVID-19 cases after 100 were reported.

However, of that number, 50 were identified during a review of vital records.

The report noted the number of positive cases of the virus total 525,612 after 1,994 more were confirmed. That is the lowest number of daily cases since September 2020.

In addition, there are 44,538 probable cases that are being monitored after 474 more were added over the last 24 hours, and there are also 785 probable deaths to be reviewed after 4 were added.

A probable case means there is a possibility a person was exposed to the virus or has possible symptoms of the virus so they are being monitored. A probable death means the death is being studied further to determine if it was COVID-19-caused.

There are 1,447 cases of the virus in Huron County after 4 additional were confirmed, and there are 310 probable cases that are being monitored after 62 were added. Deaths remain at 51 with 1 probable death still to be reviewed.

- Fatal cases in Tuscola County increased by 1 to 100 with 7 probable deaths still to be evaluated. Cases total 2,538 after 7 more were identified, and there are still 353 probable cases being monitored.
- COVID-19 cases in Sanilac County total 1,533 after 8 more were detected, and there are 134 probable cases being watched after 9 were added. Deaths remain at 64 with 3 probable deaths still to be examined.
- Lapeer County's cases of the virus increased by 23 to 3,836, and there are 499 probable cases being followed after 9 were added. Deaths remain at 102 with 1 probable death still to be evaluated.

Four additional deaths over the last 24 hours brings Bay County's fatal cases to 222 with 1 probable death still to be reviewed. Fourteen more brings the number of cases of the virus to 6,477, and there are 249 probable cases being observed after 1 was added.

- Two more deaths brings Midland County's number of fatalities to 49 with 2 probable deaths still to be evaluated. Cases of the virus total 3,814 after 30 additional were found, and there are 569 probable cases after 2 were added.
- Deaths in Saginaw County remain steady at 426, and there are still 9 probable deaths to be evaluated. Cases total 12,626 after 41 more were detected, and there are 613 probable cases being monitored after 20 were added.
- Seven more deaths brings Genesee County's fatal cases to 615 with 43 probable deaths to be reviewed after 1 was added. Cases in the county total 19,871 after 86 additional were confirmed, and there are 3,138 probable cases that are being followed after 27 were added.

Fatal cases in Oakland County total 1,673 after 12 deaths occurred over the last 24 hours, and there are still 90 probable deaths to be reviewed. Cases total 58,040 after 251 more were found, and there are 7,797 probable cases being monitored after 40 were added.

- Six deaths in St. Clair County brings the number of fatal cases to 186, with 12 probable deaths still to be evaluated. Cases of the virus increased by 35 to 6,666. Probable cases being monitored total 1,054 after 13 were added.
- Macomb County's fatal COVID-19 cases total 1,642 after 13 more deaths occurred, and there are still 87 probable deaths to be evaluated. Cases of the virus now total 50,167 after 137 additional were confirmed during testing. Probable cases total 2,355 after 8 were added to be followed.
- Deaths in Detroit City remained steady at 1,738, and there are 121 probable deaths still to be reviewed. The detection of 64 more brings the number of cases to 27,028 with 1,909 probable cases being observed after 9 were added.
- Thirteen more brings Wayne County's fatal cases of the virus to 1,865, and there are still 81 probable deaths still to be evaluated. Cases now total 58,143 after 235 new cases were identified through testing, and there are also 3,598 probable cases being watched after 19 more were added.
