Gas prices in Michigan declined 1 cent after spiking 14 cents within a 3-day period. The state average set a new 2019-high of $2.93 per gallon on April 12. Michigan drivers are now paying an average of $2.92 per gallon for regular unleaded - 9 cents more than a week ago and 30 cents more than this time last month. Drivers are now paying about 14 cents more than this time last year.
"Despite fluctuations, motorists should expect the springtime increase to continue," said Adrienne Woodland, spokesperson for The Auto Club Group. "Shrinking supplies amid high demand will likely contribute to increased pump prices this week."
The highest state average price for regular unleaded was $2.96 in Saginaw, while the least expensive was in Traverse City at $2.88. The average in the Detroit area was $2.89 per gallon.
