LOCAL ORGANIZERS WHO HAVE BEEN WORKING TO CREATE A RECORD BREAKING, HUGE "BAD AX" FOR A POTENTIAL ATTEMPT AT THE GUINNESS WORLD RECORD BOOK ARE COLLECTING SIGNATURES ON THE AX HANDLE DURING THE BAD AXE HATCHET FEST THIS WEEKEND. ONE OF THE ORGANIZERS, BARB COOK SAID THEY ORIGINALLY HOPED THEY COULD GET 20 THOUSAND SIGNATURES, BUT WITH THE CRACKS AND OTHER IMPERFECTIONS IN THE BROKEN HANDLE THE NUMBER WILL LIKELY BE LESS. THE HATCHET HANDLE IS CURRENTLY AT A GARAGE SALE, AT 134 WEST HOPSON STREET, WHERE ANYONE CAN STOP AND SIGN IT THURSDAY THROUGH SATURDAY FROM 9AM UNTIL 4PM. THEY HAVE TAPED OFF AREAS FOR SIGNATURES TO MAXIMIZE THE NUMBER THAT CAN BE PUT ON IT. COOK TOLD US IN THE FUTURE THERE ARE PLANS TO HAVE THE HANDLE AT McDONALD'S FOOD AND FAMILY CENTER AND TRACTOR SUPPLY TO GATHER MORE SIGNATURES. DIRECTIONS TO THE HATCHETS LOCATION CAN BE FOUND TO THE RIGHT.
